12-Year-Old is Making a Food Allergy Documentary Called "That Bites!"

By Heather Callaghan

Young Jack Y. has a tree nut allergy. He is frustrated at the lack of understanding at just how deadly a food allergy can be to 1 in 13 children under age 18.

He says:
My friends, my extended family, food workers, and sometimes even teachers don’t understand the threat that food allergies pose to people like me. I knew I had to do something about the issue...
Do something, he did. You'll be hard pressed to find a young person as researched as Jack. He is creating a documentary that you can read about (and back) at Kickstarter.

More from Jack:
Eating is one of the great joys of life, but for 8% of the population, it can be a nightmare. The food allergy epidemic is on the rise and hundreds of people a year are dying from even small exposures to food allergens. Imagine if you are one of these people with a serious food allergy. Welcome to a birthday party, where this seemingly harmless piece of cake can send you to the emergency room within minutes. Welcome to a restaurant, where your server doesn’t know what is safe and what is dangerous. Welcome to having a new babysitter who accidentally feeds you something unsafe. Food allergy sufferers put their lives into the hands of hosts, waiters, and caregivers everyday and someone is bound to make a mistake.
Jack is concerned and believes that there is no cure for deadly food allergies. I hope the good news reaches him soon that there are actually a variety of natural and holistic ways to completely reverse allergies. Unfortunately, a lot of them are rigorous and sometimes harsh.

One I've just started, however, is not harsh. It's called NAET. I am currently relieving many food allergies and sensitivities through the gentle process with the help of a NAET practitioner. Even allergies I didn't know I had, like natural vitamins and minerals. Already, I am able to digest food more comfortably. Please check it out and tell me what you think.

That said, this is sure to be an informative look at how food allergies are increasingly affecting kids in the U.S. We love to see young people using their talents to get involved and hope to see more projects from Jack in the future!
